Accountable vs Billit vs Feen: Which Belgian Invoicing Tool?

Three Belgian tools, three different approaches. Accountable started as a bookkeeping and tax app for sole traders. Billit started as an invoicing platform and grew into a broader document exchange network. Feen is focused on invoicing, Peppol compliance, and document management for SMEs and freelancers.

Since January 2026, all three tools support the mandatory Peppol e-invoicing requirement for Belgian B2B transactions. But they differ meaningfully on pricing, target audience, OCR, bank reconciliation, and accountant collaboration.

This article compares all three honestly, without hype. Where Feen has a clear advantage we will say so; where a competitor does something better we will say that too.

Who each tool is built for

Accountable targets Belgian sole traders and freelancers, including starters, students, and VAT-exempt micro-businesses. It has strong tax estimation and VAT return support. The mobile-first approach (iOS, Android) makes it a fit for people who want to manage everything from their phone. The web interface is only available on paid plans.

Billit serves a much wider range: freelancers through enterprise-scale businesses, plus white-label arrangements with accountants and vendors. It connects to 30+ Belgian accounting packages and 180+ integrations. If your accountant already uses a specific package, Billit's integration story may matter.

Feen focuses on invoicing and document management for Belgian SMEs and freelancers. It handles Peppol through Recommand.eu, includes OCR for incoming documents in the Pro plan, and gives accountants free read-only access. It is web-first with a mobile app in progress.

Peppol compliance (January 2026 mandate)

All three tools support Peppol send and receive for the mandatory Belgian B2B e-invoicing requirement.

Accountable Billit Feen
Peppol send Yes Yes Yes
Peppol receive Yes Yes (paid plans) Yes
Certified Peppol AP Yes Yes Yes (Recommand.eu)
Registration handled Yes Yes Yes
Recipient lookup Yes Yes Yes
2026 mandate compliant Yes Yes Yes

One difference: Billit's free plan includes Peppol send only, not receive. You need a paid plan (Starter at €7.50/month ex-VAT or above) to receive Peppol invoices.

For more on what the mandate requires, see our guide to Peppol e-invoicing in Belgium.

Pricing breakdown

This is where the three tools diverge significantly.

Accountable has five tiers:

  • Free Invoicing: €0/month ex-VAT (basic mobile invoicing, 5 expenses/month, 1 bank connection, no web access)
  • Invoicing Plus: €12.40/month (monthly) or €9.90/month (annual) ex-VAT
  • Bookkeeping: €24.90/month (monthly) or €19.90/month (annual) ex-VAT
  • Taxes: €37.40/month (monthly) or €29.90/month (annual) ex-VAT
  • Max: €74.90/month (monthly) or €59.90/month (annual) ex-VAT

Accountable's free tier is mobile-only. Web access requires any paid plan. There is no public API. Single-user (multi-user support is not confirmed). Tax guarantee up to €10,000 on the Max plan is a notable differentiator if you want peace of mind on your fisc.

Billit has a free plan plus five paid tiers:

  • Free: €0/month ex-VAT (Peppol send only, no receive; €5/extra user)
  • Starter: €7.50/month (monthly) or €6.88/month (annual) ex-VAT, with a 25 documents/month cap
  • Premium 1: €17/month (monthly) or €15.58/month (annual) ex-VAT
  • Premium 2: €33/month (monthly) or €30.25/month (annual) ex-VAT
  • Premium 3: €60/month (monthly) or €55/month (annual) ex-VAT
  • Premium 4: €145/month (monthly) or €132.92/month (annual) ex-VAT, with a 500 documents cap

Important: Billit bills quarterly or annually, not monthly rolling. Extra users cost €5/month extra. The "document" count (invoices, receipts, credit notes) is metered on most plans; quotes and purchase orders do not count toward the cap.

Feen has two tiers:

  • Inbox: from €7/month ex-VAT, covering receiving Peppol invoices and managing incoming documents with OCR
  • Pro: €15.70/month ex-VAT (€19 incl. VAT), covering outbound invoicing, quotes, credit notes, OCR, the VAT dashboard, and multi-user access

No document metering. Accountant access is free. No setup fees.

OCR and document management

Accountable includes AI-powered expense capture and OCR for incoming documents on paid plans. The mobile camera scan is strong and core to the product.

Billit has partial OCR: available but not the primary focus of the platform. It is more about the exchange network and accounting integrations.

Feen includes OCR in the Pro plan for all incoming documents: invoices, receipts, anything uploaded by email, drag-and-drop, or received via Peppol. It reads amounts, VAT, dates, and vendor details automatically. No per-document fees.

Bank reconciliation

This is an important gap for all three tools at different levels.

Accountable includes live PSD2 bank sync (connecting your bank directly) on the Bookkeeping plan and above. This is a genuine advantage: you connect your account and transactions appear automatically.

Billit also includes live PSD2 bank sync on paid plans. Reconciliation is available.

Feen currently supports bank statement import via CSV or PDF upload. You download your statement from your bank and import it. Live bank sync (PSD2) is coming soon. This is an honest limitation: if live sync is important to you today, Accountable or Billit cover it.

Accountant access and collaboration

Accountable supports accountant messaging and document sharing. It integrates with Horus, Exact Online, Odoo, Octopus, and WinBooks via manual export. No multi-user seats confirmed.

Billit has strong accountant collaboration: built-in messaging, document sharing, multi-user seats, and native connections to 30+ accounting packages including Exact Online and WinBooks. This is arguably Billit's biggest advantage. If your accountant is embedded in a Belgian accounting firm, they probably already connect to Billit.

Feen offers read-only accountant invite at no extra cost. Your accountant logs in, sees your invoices, expenses, and VAT data, and can export what they need. Native accounting package integrations are coming soon; for now your accountant works from the exports.

Frequently asked questions

Does Accountable work on a computer? Yes, but only on paid plans. The free tier is mobile-only (iOS and Android). If you need a browser-based workflow, you will need at least the Invoicing Plus plan (from €9.90/month annual).

Does Billit's free plan include Peppol receive? No. The Billit free plan includes Peppol send only. To receive Peppol invoices, you need the Starter plan (from €6.88/month annual) or above.

Can I give my accountant access to Feen without paying extra? Yes. Feen includes a free read-only invite for your accountant. They log in, view your data, and can export what they need. No extra seat cost.

Is bank sync mandatory for Peppol compliance in Belgium? No. Bank sync is a convenience feature for reconciliation. The Peppol mandate (January 2026) is only about structured e-invoice exchange. You can be fully compliant without any bank connection.

Are these tools GDPR compliant? Yes, all three (Accountable, Billit, and Feen) are GDPR compliant and operate within the EU.

Which tool is cheapest for a sole trader sending 20 invoices a month? For 20 invoices per month: Accountable's free mobile tier covers basic invoicing but no web access and limited expenses. Billit's free tier covers Peppol send only. Feen's Inbox plan (€7/month) gives Peppol receive plus incoming document OCR. Feen's Pro plan (€15.70/month) adds outbound invoicing. The right answer depends on whether you need web access and Peppol receive from day one.

Bottom line

All three tools are Peppol-compliant and built for the Belgian market. The real differences are in what surrounds the mandate: tax support (Accountable's strength), accounting integrations (Billit's strength), and document management plus simplicity (Feen's focus).
